SENIOR CONSULTANT
Jean Li is a seasoned corporate lawyer and strategic legal advisor with nearly two decades of experience spanning private practice, multinational corporations, regulatory bodies, and high-growth technology and fintech environments. Her career journey reflects a breadth of perspective: beginning in private practice with a leading Singapore law firm, next moving in-house at a commodity trading house and a multinational bank, then shaping regulatory policy as a regulator at the Singapore Exchange. In 2017, she entered the fintech space with Grab, where she drove legal strategy for its financial services (across payments, e-money, lending, BNPL, insurance, and digital assets) and helped secure its successful bid for a digital full bank licence in Singapore. She subsequently joined Tencent Holdings as one of its first Singapore-based employees, supporting global expansion and securing multiple major payment institution licences.
Jean’s experience spans Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, North America, and Europe. She is admitted to the Singapore Bar, holds a Bachelor of Laws from the National University of Singapore, and is certified in both anti-money laundering (ACAMS) and data privacy (CIPP/A). She currently serves on the Singapore Fintech Association’s Payment Subcommittee and works in English and Mandarin, with conversational ability in several other languages including French and Japanese.
