
HUIJUAN (SARAH) PENG
SPECIAL ADVISOR
Huijuan Peng is a Special Advisor on AI & Law at HM. She has over a decade of experience in legal academia, having taught at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU), the University of Otago, and emlyon business school. She has designed and taught business law courses at undergraduate, graduate, executive education, and MBA levels. Additionally, she served as Programme Director of Human Resource Management (HRM) at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at XJTLU.
Huijuan is currently pursuing a PhD in Law, Commerce and Technology at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University (SMU). Before her PhD studies in Singapore, she earned an LLB in China and an LLM in the United States. She is fluent in English and Chinese and specializes in comparative legal studies, analyzing legal frameworks across different jurisdictions.
Her PhD research explores the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Law, with a particular focus on the legal challenges of generative AI and deepfakes. In 2024, she co-authored “When Code Creates: A Landscape Report on Issues at the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Law.”
Huijuan holds a master’s degree in law from the joint LLM program between Temple University and Tsinghua University, a master’s degree in research in management from the University of Liverpool, and a double bachelor’s degree in law and economics from Minzu University of China. She is passionate about legal research, education, and the evolving relationship between AI and the law.
